about

This song was written for a stripper who was abducted late night after work and was found dead on the train tracks. I heard the story and it kept swimming in my head like a never ending nightmare and I wrote this song live in front of an audience on tour. When we returned home and got into the studio to record this something really strange happened. We recorded the cello tracks and we listened to the isolated tracks and picked out our favorite cleanest track. Once we put it back into the mix we kept hearing some kind of disturbance in the part of the song that I'm trying somehow to sing her into Heaven, the moment of the song where she dies. We isolated the layers trying to find the disturbance. We had just heard the cello so we knew that track was clean of any pops or scratches etc so we didn't play that track until the last one. We discovered an EVP when we went back to the cell track we could audibly and clearly hear a woman's voice crying. We got so spooked chills ran down everyone in the studio that day. We were able to copy and paste the EVP again at the end of the song so when you hear that last voice, that tiny sob at the end it wasn't us. The orginal release of this album we credited the Ghost of Amelia for making an appearance on the track.
